Sustainability Series: Opportunities and Challenges in the Procurement of Renewable Energy in South East Asia

APAC is home to 60% of the world's population and accounts for half of the global carbon emissions.

As companies grapple to recover from the pandemic, the growing demand for renewable energy caused by more stringent ESG* targets and conscious consumerism has forced all leaders to rethink the fundamentals of mainstream business models. However, on-site power generation is not feasible to provide sufficient electricity to achieve 100% renewable energy targets.

Many corporations are looking to set up operations overseas and achieve internal ESG targets, as seen by the adoption and promotion of Virtual and Direct Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and peer-to-peer trading of renewable energy certificates. In order to attract and retain these businesses, more corporate renewable procurement options are being introduced across the region.

Studies have shown that companies with good corporate practices outperform better financially than those that don't. Integrating renewable energy into your commercial energy mix helps to reduce costs and energy price volatility while offsetting carbon emissions and boosting public appeal. Join our webinar on Feb 17th, to better understand and adapt to local regulations and learn how you may switch to renewable energy today to stay ahead of the curve.
