Korea Market Access Landscape for Surgical Robots

APACMed Government Affairs and Market Access & Digital Health Committees are excited to continue our webinar series on South Korea's market access landscape for innovative technologies. Following the first webinar on digital health solutions, this session will feature surgical robots.

South Korea is a leader for clinical applications of surgical robots in the Asia Pacific region. Surgical robots are currently being used in laparoscopic, spinal, joint replacement, and brain surgeries.

Although surgical robots have been developed and used for over a decade in South Korea, the National Health Insurance (NHI) has been relatively conservative regarding reimbursement decisions. However, there have been recent breakthroughs on regulatory approval, health technology assessment (HTA) and reimbursement pathways for innovative technologies, given the implementation of the new Health Technology Assessment (nHTA) programme.
