Home Use Test Kits & Their Role in COVID-19 Control
The pandemic has transformed the face of diagnostics, bringing testing into the home. Over-the-counter (OTC) Covid-19 test kits are part of the pandemic surveillance strategy in several countries — including Britain, Germany and the United States. Asian countries like India, South Korea and Singapore have also authorized at-home, OTC Covid-19 test kits. Even as countries ramp up their vaccination programs, there's a role for self-administered tests to detect possible infections as they are fast, easy to use and affordable.
While at-home Covid-19 tests offer promises, there are risks including the possibility that they could produce false results if administered incorrectly, and inherent challenges such as not declaring a positive DIY test result. These considerations will need to be addressed, including driving public health and patient education and assessing the regulatory gaps. Join us as for a webinar on 15 July 2021 as we discuss the future of at-home testing.
