[APACMed Digital Health Webinar] Paper launch - Digital Health Regulation in Asia-Pacific: China and Korea

Regulatory bodies across the world struggle to stay up with the rapid transformation of healthcare. A major challenge being that digital health is included under the medical device umbrella.

The APACMed Digital Health Committee published a first position paper in 2020 - "Digital Health Regulation in Asia-Pacific: Overview and Best Practices" - calling for the development and convergence of fit-for-purpose frameworks for digital health across APAC countries. In the paper, we assess the digital health regulatory activities in Australia, Japan, and Singapore, identifying best practices and gaps and comparing digital health regulation from abroad such as in the United States. We ended the paper with recommendations to regulators, in order to support them to implement frameworks specific to digital health.

In this new paper launch, APACMed will review China and Korea's regulatory approaches for software regulation alongside international best practices and reiterating the framework for fit-for-purpose regulation of digital health solutions. We will also present the unique features needed for digital health regulation and lead toward the creation of a fit-for-purpose regulatory framework for digital health across APAC.
